Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
Facilities and Services

(Frankfurt Am Main, Germany)

Home to everything that a modernday passenger could ever require as they wait for their flight, the two main terminal buildings and five concourse areas of Frankfurt Airport (FRA) come with many facilities. Accompanying the wealth of shops and dining establishments are banks, prayer rooms, lounges, a conference centre, storage and shrinkwrapping services, travellers' aid medical care, a hotel for dogs, dry cleaning and seasonal events.

If you have any queries during your visit, then well=signed Information Counters await in Terminal 1, Concourse B (Arrivals and Departures), as well as Terminal 2, between Concourses D and E. Also in Frankfurt Airport are casino slot machines and video games, a Visitors Terrace boasting runway views, and a selection of themed tours, where visitors can find out what goes on 'behind the scenes'.

Shops, Duty-Free and Retail Outlets

With more than 100 shops at Frankfurt Airport, it certainly makes sense to allocate a little time to spend some of your holiday money. Onsite stores are spread around four main areas:

  • Shopping Avenue - located on the landside / departures hall (area B) or Terminal 1. Stores include Accessorize, Bailly Diehl, Christ Jewellers, Espirity, More & More, and Relay
  • Shopping Boulevard - comprising some 30 outlets, the Boulevard resides on the departures level (landside) and is called home by the likes of Boss, Burberry, Essentials, Jack Wolfskin, K Bookstore, Marc O'Polo, Quicker's, Swarovski and Timberland
  • Airport City Mall - sited underneath Concourses A, B and C, close to the railway station. Here you will find stores such as Benetton, E-Plus, Levi's and Street One
  • Shopping Plaza - opened in the summer of 2009 and sited in the heart of Terminal 2. Look out for Metropolitan Pharmacy, Pilgrim Jewellery, Rolling Luggage, Sunglasses (by Pfendt Airport Optic) and the Virgin Store

Bars, Cafés and Restaurants

There are a number of places to eat at FRA, generally being interspersed with the resident shops. With some 50 different restaurants, coffee shops and bars to choose between, popular eateries include Asia Snack Box, Burger King, Ciao Italia, Connection, Fly Away Cafe, Grab & Fly, Hooters, La Maison du Pain, McCafe, McDonald's, MoschMosch, Out of Frankfurt and Thong Thai. Alternatively, you can always grab a chocolate bar on the go, from one of the plentiful vending machines.

Currency Exchange, Communications and Banking Facilities

Located within the Airport City Mall, Reisebank is the place to come for general banking facilities, travellers checks, cashpoint withdrawals and foreign currency exchange. You can even get advice on selling gold here. Other banking and exchange bureaus include International Currency Exchange (12 outlets spread across both terminals), Santander Bank (Terminal 1, Level 3) and Travelex (5 outlets in Terminal 1). For advice on claiming back tax, pay a visit to either Global Blue or Premier Tax Free.
